The total number of questions is 72 and the time extends to 3 and ½ hours (210 minutes). The percentile calculation will not consider the scores in General Awareness and Essay Writing.

Sectional time restrictions do not exist and sections may be attempted according to preferences. One mark is awarded for each correct answer. Negative marking extends to ¼ mark for each wrong answer. You can leave 12 questions unattempted without penalty. Further, 0.05 marks will be deducted as a penalty for unattempted questions.

Key points you need to remember at the time of writing the CMAT exams

Now that 2018 is around the corner, CMAT is not so far away. The nightmares of preparation are now over and the weeks and months of tensions and laborious preparation are now ending. What remains is to rest and relax in the days leading up to the exam in January.

Being very much present and facing the questions on the battlefield positively, being courageous, and not losing your nerve are what you should aim to do. What is CMAT?

It is a computer-based online test. The syllabus consists of data interpretation, quantitative techniques, language, logical reasoning, and general awareness. Continue to observe regular sleeping and resting hours, avoiding excessive study late in the night when the brain is tired. Walking and other forms of light exercise would ensure that you remain physically fit to face the examination pressure on a fateful day. Avoid studying until the last moment, burdening the mind with lots of study materials. Try to relax at the time of the examination and keep optimistic thoughts.

Yet, there are still about three weeks left even after the New Year celebrations are done. Even at the last moment, do not spend long hours studying but take breaks now and then for fresh air and stretch your limbs.

Some people would advise differently! Keeping away from books and study materials at this late juncture would not be a good idea. Keep in touch with the study materials daily but don’t engage in activities that might distract your mind. Keep away from parties and picnics and intoxicants that might interfere with thought processes and result in physical problems too.

Get prepared for working on the computer screen

Most young people nowadays are quite familiar with computer work but some are not. Since you would be working online, get used to it. Spend a few sessions surfing the internet and writing practice answers on computer screens perhaps at the internet café if you don’t have one of your own.

Clarify the test center and documents

Formalities take up a lot of time, effort, and expense and are sometimes necessary too. Be certain of the test center well in advance and try to visit the area beforehand. Are you sure what documents would be required, whether in original, photocopied, or attested? Arrange them all in proper order well in advance. Make sure that you are observing all the do’s and don’ts like avoiding things that are not allowed to be taken inside the examination hall. Be well prepared to undergo a series of checks at the examination hall and reach the venue well in advance, unburdened by study materials.

Make sure to avoid stupid mistakes

There is no need to be tense as the date is getting closer. Get mentally prepared and say your prayers, and seek the blessings of parents and elders before the date arrives. Despite diligent preparation, it is seen that many students make silly mistakes as a result of acting irresponsibly and not applying the knowledge they possess. • After rehearsing several times, perhaps the time planning is not a problem anymore. When the ‘Start Test’ button is clicked, the timer commences. The test must be completed before the allotted time because the timer will stop automatically at the stipulated time.
• Use the review feature and choose the ‘flag’ button to write or review a question at a later time. With the ‘deselect’ button, you can edit answers already written.
• Since you are under the CCTV spotlight, avoid any form of cheating and do not carry prohibited items inside the exam hall. No calculators or mobile phones, earphones, or log tables, they are all banned. Don’t carry rough sheets and use the blank paper provided.

A Vigorous Sports Day

It was an occasion to get rid of many pent-up mental frustrations after the intellect had been stretched to the limit during all the scholarly research. While games had been regularly played throughout the session, the spirit of participation was commendable. Competitions as diverse as cricket and football, chess and badminton, kabaddi, and swimming along with some others captivated the students and contributed to physical fitness.

The pleasant sight once again reminded me what an important role physical fitness plays in student and professional life. The intense competition of corporate life that business management is all about can hardly succeed without powerful physical skills in addition to all the mind and leadership ability. Students certainly feel very good about themselves and so much more confident after that euphoric sports dedication. Chief Guest Yeshwanth Prakash did set a good example with his achievements in the field of bodybuilding and his passion as a certified fitness trainer.

Six Sigma Training Program

How the complicated tasks in the industry are managed by professionals to deliver high-quality goods and services is quite a mystery! The Six Sigma approach answers some of those questions in terms of quality management. Statistical research uses certain methods and techniques to improve efficiency and networking, analysis, and affordability. GIBS Dream Ending 2017 with the Convocation and Student of the Year Grand Functions

Gearing up for another academic year would probably witness similar concluding events in the year 2018. So it has been for ages in society as in nature with repetitions like the seasons that come and go. Yet, the present moment is always of superior importance and the GIBS students and staff can very well celebrate the hard labor across the weeks and months that seemed to never end.

Both the occasions, the Convocation and Student of the Year, did motivate by the presence of august personalities from a broad spectrum of academics, industry, and corporates. Inspiration is so much in short supply these days with the media constantly repeating stories of wrongdoing. It becomes so difficult to uphold values and traditions and convince the world that life is worth living in such conditions. Perhaps it would be worthy to emulate the lotus that is intimately tied up with Indian spiritual traditions. The lotus may grow in muddy water but keeps itself proudly aloft above the water surface in resplendent beauty.

Enormous organizational challenges

Those who see only the external manifestations are probably making a mistake. The difference lies between being the passenger and the driver of a bus. Putting together events of such magnitude presents a serious challenge not only in terms of monetary resources, creativity, and materials like furniture but also the logistics and the conception. Can it all be left in the hands of professional event managers? Partly, yes, but the students need to learn and experience is always the best teacher.

Starting with the cleaning and the furniture arrangements, the stage arrangements, the program being drawn up, and the formalities observed, it was a long, long journey of practice and more practice. As management students, it was all excellent rehearsing for future roles. Feeling involved and dedicated, participating with feelings and emotions, since the date soon approaches to say goodbye to pursue individual careers. Keeping in touch has never been easier than nowadays with all the technology and social media, but the face-to-face companionship on the GIBS campus must now come to an end.

The Convocation Fulfillment

The graduation moment and ecstasy come but rarely to most people. Life does sometimes appear like a race for degrees in the belief that the higher qualifications would ensure better professional positions, success in society, and dazzling reputations. Yet, too many degrees may only encourage theoretical thinking and a divorce from the realities of life. Practical approaches apply more passionately to professional courses like management studies at GIBS. Many dreams came true on that Convocation date when the deserving girls and boys were officially blessed with the degrees that would usher them through many professional peaks. The world beckons with open arms and the luckiest ones would reach very far in the management race.

Management of money, HR, materials, manufacturing, and services lies certainly above every other career. Management is truly universal like the sun and shines upon every sector and profession, from the teeming cities full of corporate mega-giants and the remotest areas in forests and deserts. Management is truly the yardstick by means of which an organization may be judged.

The trophies and the medals, the mementos and the flowers did speak many intimate languages of grand achievements and promises of splendid futures. Savor the moment since the togetherness of the last two years is now ending. Reunions may come later in life but those will be in changed circumstances, perhaps as managers or sales executives. The innocence of the present moment may soon be lost amidst the complexities of jobs and life, duties and responsibility.

The speeches and the dances continue to reverberate in the mind. Recordings do remain in the form of images and videos to be uploaded to GIBS websites to become a part of the institutional history. Students particularly would remember the events through many decades. They would frame the pictures and display them online and even in their home drawing rooms and office chambers. The atmosphere and the recognitions would remain in the memory to tell stories of achievement across a lifetime.
